Local attractions

The countryside has a breath-taking natural beauty, with a diversity of vistas, from dramatic mountains, rolling hilltops and winding river valleys to stunning coastlines.

Such diversity brings a range of leisure opportunities, including walking, fishing and golf, as well as more active sports, or you can simply take in the array of historic sites.

The town itself boats a 13th-century castle, built under the instruction of Edward I.

The beautiful Snowdonia National Park is nearby, along with Portmeirion, the village created in the Italian style by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis and the set for the 1960s television show The Prisoner. Portmeirion is also famous for its pottery.

Local transport

Buses run from Chester via Mold and from Rhyl rail station via Denbigh.

Parking

We have no on-site parking, with the exception of two accessible bays. Behind our hotel is a pay-and-display car park, which is free during 5pm–8am.

Directions

We are located some 22 miles from Chester and can be reached from the south, following the M56 for north Wales, then signs for north Wales, then for Mold. Then follow signs to Ruthin, which will bring you onto the town square, in the centre of the town, where we are located.
