Multiple Casual Dining Pub Brand of the Year
The UK’s best casual dining operators were revealed at the launch of the first Casual Dining Restaurant & Pub Awards 2016, organised by Diversified Communications UK.
“We’re obviously very delighted to win. For a company which has been operating for 36 years, it’s great that we can still be recognised as doing something good in the pub and restaurant world,” says John Hutson, CEO of J D Wetherspoon.
J D Wetherspoon tops YouGov list of Britain’s favourite fast food and pub chains
The pub chain came out on top in YouGov’s BrandIndex 2015, which asks respondents: ‘If you’ve heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?’
Wetherspoon scored 6.4 in the top buzz rankings of fast food and pubs, far exceeding that of second-placed Nando’s, which scored 3.9. Costa Coffee (3.9), Greggs (3.1) and Toby Carvery (2.5) completed the top five.
Best Town & City Pub menu award
At the MIDAS (Menu Innovation & Development Awards) ceremony 2016, our food menu won the award in the best Town & City Pub category.
The MIDAS awards were established in 2009 to recognise the ‘outstanding creative talents of menu-development managers’, and we are delighted to have been recognised.

British Pie Awards 2016 – Gold Award
At the British Pie awards 2016, our British beef & Doom Bar ale pie, produced by Dunkleys, won a gold award.
The individual round shortcrust pastry pie is filled with prime British beef, in a thick gravy enriched with Doom Bar ale, from Sharp’s Brewery, in Rock, Cornwall. It is served with gravy, mash or chips, peas or mushy peas.
