This is one of several Wetherspoon pubs with ‘moon’ in their name, linking them with the ideal pub described by George Orwell. The famous writer called his fictional pub ‘Moon Under Water’. The New Moon is part of a parade built by TF Nash in the 1920s. He was one of the creators of modern Kenton. It was originally two shops (25–26 Kenton Parade), with 25 having been a grocer’s for many years.
